Using Triggers
Triggers are a simple way to automate notifications when your assets have values that trend out of range.

Bulk Triggers
Viewing & Creating Bulk Triggers
To view all Bulk Triggers, click on the Bulk Triggers tab on the left side panel.

To create Bulk Triggers, click on the plus button on the top-right menu bar.
- Click on Bulk Trigger from the drop-down and fill out the applicable fields.
- Name the Bulk Trigger and add a description if you’d like.
- Choose the Severity of the Bulk Trigger.
- Add Keywords, if you’d like, by clicking the plus sign.
- Determine Trigger Type from the dropdown options.
- Ability – Set alerts around the type of data your Beacons can capture. This includes; battery, temperature, humidity, orientation, vibration etc.
- Entry or Exit – Set alerts for when an Asset enters or exits a specific Place.
- Fill out Duration and Auto Resolve if you’d like.
- Duration – How long this Trigger can remain out of the acceptable range until it sets off an alert.
- Auto-Resolve – The required amount of time a Trigger has to be neutralized before it is automatically resolved on its own.
- Use Asset Filter to specify which Assets this Trigger should apply to.
- All – This will apply to all of the Assets within the Business Application. This should be used with caution due to the potential for a substantial amount of alerts.
- Single Asset – This can be used to find one single, specific Asset.
- Name – This will look for all Assets whose name contains the letters, characters, words, or phrases in the search box.
- Keywords – This will apply to all Assets that have the keyword(s) specified.
- Identifiers – This will apply to all Assets that have the Identifier(s) specified. The filter can be narrowed further by adjusting the “*” to a specific value.
- Add any contact(s) that should be notified when the above qualifications are met and can take action when the Trigger is activated.
Editing & Deleting Bulk Triggers
To edit a Bulk Trigger, click on the Bulk Triggers tab on the left side panel.
- To edit, click the Name of the Bulk Trigger that needs to be edited.
- Once all changes are made, press Submit.
To delete a Bulk Trigger, click on the Bulk Triggers tab on the left side panel.
- To delete, click the Name of the Bulk Trigger that needs to be removed.
- Press Delete.
- Press OK at the pop-up window confirming this action.
Bulk Trigger Alerts
Bulk Trigger alerts are sent by email to the users specified on the Bulk Trigger. Alert emails look similar to the one below.
Resolving Bulk Triggers
To resolve a Bulk Trigger, go to the alert email.
- To resolve, open the Trigger alert email.
- Press Go to Trigger at the bottom of the email.
- A new tab will open in Sonar with a Trigger Resolution pop-up window.
- On the pop-up window:
- Review the Trigger information.
- Add any additional contacts that you want notified of the resolution.
- Add a comment about the resolution if you’d like.
Single Triggers
Viewing Single Triggers
To view all active triggers, click on the “Triggers” tab on the left side panel.
Creating triggers
To create a trigger, click on the “Assets” tab on the left side panel.
- Select an asset you want to be alerted to from the asset list.
- On the “Assets” page, click on the bell icon to add a trigger.
- Search and choose the beacon to associate the trigger.
- Pick the trigger type: Temperature, Humidity, Movement, Battery, or Place.
- Determine the set range.
- Set notifications by searching Sonar contacts or add a contact. Include sending notifications by email or SMS text message to ensure you or your coworkers receive notifications quickly.
- Then give your trigger a name and description and save it.
Resolving and resetting triggers
Resolving Triggers
To resolve triggers, click on the “Triggers” tab on the left side panel.
- From the “Triggers” page, find the trigger you would like to resolve.
- Click on the “Resolve” button.
- If you would like, enter a comment for this trigger resolution.
- A green success pop up will notify you of the changes.
Resetting Triggers
To reset Triggers, click on the “Triggers” tab on the left side panel.
- From the “Triggers” page, find the trigger you would like to reset.
- Click on the Reset button.
- A green success pop up will notify you of the changes.
