Thinaer Unveils Vision for a Classified Solution Targeting Aerospace and U.S. Department of Defense Manufacturers.

Anticipating the next wave of innovation: Making the “Internet of Everything” affordable, secure, and integrated with Microsoft’s Classified Cloud.

RICHARDSON, TX – September 18, 2023 – Thinaer, an Internet of Everything, Everywhere platform and solution provider for aerospace and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) manufacturers have set their sights on an ambitious new horizon: the development of an innovative Classified IoT Solution, envisioned to integrate with Microsoft’s Classified Cloud. This forward-looking solution will aim to empower manufacturers to ensure secure asset tracking, raw materials monitoring, digital twinning for machines and ambient environmental conditions. As a result, manufacturers can optimize operations, increase visibility, and maintain the highest levels of security and compliance, while leveraging the power of Microsoft’s cloud technologies.

As Thinaer continues its extensive Research & Development for this concept, they’re putting the specific and unique requirements of aerospace and DoD manufacturers at the forefront. The intended collaboration with Microsoft’s Classified Cloud creates a reliable infrastructure, enabling enterprise-wide digital transformation for the Internet of Everything.

Bryan Merckling, CEO of Thinaer, said, “We are proud to introduce this vision of a classified solution for the aerospace and DoD manufacturing sector. By building a solution to integrate with Microsoft’s Classified Cloud, we will enable businesses to optimize their operations while maintaining the highest level of security and compliance. Our solution exemplifies Thinaer’s commitment to delivering technologies and solutions that empower our clients to stay ahead of the curve.”

Even in these early stages, the vision has ignited excitement within the industry.

Emilio Matt, General Manager for Aerospace and Commercial Defense at Microsoft shared, “It’s truly inspiring to see Thinaer already envisioning the future of the Internet of Everything and the Classified Cloud. Together, we believe we can give our customers the confidence to operate securely in any environment, turning data into insights like never before.”

How It Works

Today, classified areas are not permitted to have any device that is broadcasting a signal in the room.  Thinaer’s “Classified E” solution (“Classified External”), which is deployed today and available to customers, allows manufacturers to track sensitive assets while ensuring signals go dormant while in classified areas. Here’s how it works:

  • Tag assets with passive sticker beacons
  • Deploy a strategically designed and lightweight infrastructure at the entrance of the classified area which prepares the passive sticker for classified entry and acts as an intelligent signal barrier.  Thinaer’s barrier gateways actually learn about pervasive signals that should be expected, then alerts when anything new may penetrate a classified boundary.
  • Upon exiting the classified area, normal IoT monitoring of the asset resumes.
  • This ensures that assets are tracked going in and coming out of the area but are not collecting any data while in the classified space.

What’s next? Thinaer has been working on a stand-alone air gap IoT network which enables all Thinaer powered IoT use cases to be safely deployed within classified areas.  “Classified I” (“Classified Internal”) will be a true game changer for the Aerospace industry.
